![]() ![]() Hitting the US and UK on September 4, The Transporter Refueled arrives as summer slips away, which doesn’t bode well commercially considering that most audiences will be focusing on back to school/work, or last-minute holidays and other non-film activities. Skrein has the lighting-fast reflexes, assisted by editor Julien Rey, to give Frank’s hand-to-hand fight scenes real pop. Ed Skrein has the proper ass-kicking fervour and slow-burn intensity, but like the reboot itself, he’s merely a handsome, slick, slightly generic facsimile of what was once relatively fresh and fun. Only the most die hard of Transporter fans need apply, and even they should wait and see it when it comes on TV instead.Refuelled but not reinvigorated: The first Transporter film in seven years is moderately entertaining and reliably ludicrous in all the predictable ways, but the film’s new sharp-dressed driver doesn’t possess the effortless stoic wit of the original trilogy’s Jason Statham, which ends up making all the difference. There's also some corny acting (By the sisters especially) and dialogue is mostly bland (Leaving aside the exchanges between Frank and his dad). The fight scenes have the same ferocity as the earlier installments, but the set pieces do leave you feeling unsatisfied. As usual, his rules are broken once more to accomplish his task. To ensure his cooperation, they hold his father (Ray Stevenson) hostage. He's hired by a gang of women to hunt down the man who forced them into prostitution. While not as deadpan and cold as his later installment, younger Frank still has some moves of his own. "Don't change the deal" and "Never make a promise you can't keep". ![]() He has a few simple rules "Never open the package". We also get to see that very potential squandered in front of our yes, courtesy some terrible dialogue and an idiotic plot.Įd Skrein is younger Jason Statham/Frank with hair who works as a transporter. All the more so because we can the potential the reboot has to offer. Transporter: Refueled is a disappointment.
